online journals

The rumour is that LiveJournal got bought out by some communist organization and it could be deleted entirely any day now.

All my LJ posts have been archived elsewhere so I won't lose all I've written in the last 4 years.

Now I am setting up several other online journals to secure awesome usernames before the entire internet panics and all the good names are taken.

So far, I've checked out InsaneJournal (slow), DeadJournal ($$$), DreamWidth (requires invite by a user), Blogger, VampireFreaks, MySpace and Facebook.

I wonder where everyone will go once LiveJournal bites it?

EDIT: the company that bought LJ apparently also owns a significant number of shares in Facebook and Twitter as well, and has decided to LINK all these applications. See my next post (Sept 2010) for details...
